Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 9, 2026
Telemetry Machine, Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides the Telemetry Machine website and observability service. This policy explains how we handle personal information and how to contact us about it: [email protected].
1. Our role
We are responsible for deciding how account information, correspondence, and information about use of our own website and service are handled (the “controller”). For personal information inside telemetry a customer sends us, we process that information on the customer's behalf (the “processor”). The customer decides what to collect and why. Its privacy notice and any applicable data processing agreement govern that use. If your information is in a customer's telemetry, direct your request to that customer; we will assist them as required.
2. Information we collect
- Account details: your email address, authentication information, and organization and membership details you or an administrator provide. We need account information to create and maintain your access.
- Communications: information you send when asking for support, making an inquiry, or sharing feedback.
- Billing records: contact, invoice, payment status, and transaction information if you buy a paid service.
- Usage and technical information: pages visited, referring pages, browser and device information, IP addresses, request details, timing, and errors generated when you use our website or service.
- Customer telemetry: logs, traces, metrics, attributes, and other data customers submit. This can contain personal information, depending on their instrumentation.
3. Why we use information
We use account details and billing records to provide access, administer organizations, and fulfill our agreements. We use communications to respond to you, and technical and usage information to diagnose problems, protect accounts, prevent abuse, and understand and improve our service. We also process information to meet legal obligations and resolve disputes.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract with you; our legitimate interests in operating, supporting, improving, and protecting the business and serving organizational customers; compliance with law; or consent where required. If we send promotional messages, you can opt out through the message or by contacting us. Essential account, security, and billing messages are separate from marketing.
4. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies for sign-in, request security, and interface preferences, and browser storage to remember settings such as theme and query preferences. You can clear these through your browser, although doing so may sign you out or reset settings.
We use Umami to measure website traffic, including page visits, referrals, and browser and device information. We also collect operational telemetry about page loads and network requests to diagnose performance and errors. Website analytics and operational telemetry are separate from the telemetry customers send to the platform.
5. When information is shared
Information may be handled by service providers that support hosting, storage, communications, and, where applicable, payment processing. Access is limited to what is needed for their work, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data protection obligations. Your organization's administrators and authorized members may access information within that organization. Integrations you enable receive the information you authorize them to access.
We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations, protect rights and safety, or investigate abuse. Information may also be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business, subject to continued privacy protections, or shared at your direction. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Retention and security
Customer telemetry is retained according to the customer's plan, settings, and applicable agreement. Account information is kept while needed to provide the account and wind it down. Support and operational records are kept for as long as needed to resolve issues and maintain security. We may retain records longer where necessary for tax, legal obligations, or disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it; backup copies may remain until the relevant backup is replaced or expires.
We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, and misuse. No service or method of transmission is completely secure. Keep credentials private and contact us promptly if you suspect an account compromise.
7. International processing
Information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where applicable law requires protections for an international transfer, those protections must be in place, such as an applicable adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about processing locations and applicable transfer safeguards, including how to obtain a copy. Your use of the Service does not waive these protections.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live and the applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, a portable copy, or restriction of processing. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
You may object to processing based on legitimate interests, and you may object to direct marketing at any time.
To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity and, where applicable, an agent's authority. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If we cannot fulfill a request, we will explain why and how to raise a concern with us.
You can also complain to your local data protection authority. In the UK, contact the Information Commissioner's Office; in the EEA, contact the authority where you live, work, or believe a violation occurred.
9. Children and policy updates
The Service is intended for adult business users, not children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information directly to us, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
We may update this policy as our service or legal obligations change. We will update the date above and give notice of material changes by email or in the Service. Where required, we will obtain consent before using information for a new purpose.
